Looks like the water companies managed to smash their record from last year! And united utilities here is leading the pack! 😡

Our MP Damian Moore along with the rest of the Conservative MPs voted to allow the water companies to continue dumping sewage. 🤬

# **[Full steam ahead at Southport Pleasureland this Easter after ÂŁ5m investment](www.qlocal.co.uk/merseyside/news_list/Full_steam_ahead_at_Southport_Pleasureland_this_Easter_afte...

Southport Pleasureland are steaming ahead with their highly anticipated opening for the 2024 season this Friday the 29th March.

The theme park is delighted to be opening its gates once again to visitors who will be thrilled at the new additions to the park this season.

The team at Southport Pleasureland are ecstatic ahead of the opening weekend, Norman Wallis, Chief Executive Officer, said ‘Since August 2023 we have invested over £5m into the park. We have created a new themed land ‘Steampunk Bay’.’

"We've worked day and night across the winter months to bring these new attractions to life and with the help of an incredible team, we’ve managed to do it, just in time for opening.

Our 2024 season is going to be the best yet.’ The investment into the park comes following a plan for monumental development which has already seen the creation of Viking Adventure Golf, an 18-hole mini golf, which was completed in 2022.

Norman Wallis said, ‘The new land we have developed is a major draw to performers and festivals and we have already got some exciting events planned for Southport later this year.’ ‘Steampunk Bay is the UK’s only steampunk theme park - Victoriana and sci-fi meet to create an immersive realm which will bring a whole new feel to the park.’

Southport Pleasureland re-opens for it’s 2024 season on Good Friday and are currently running a series of competitions across social media to entice park goers to visit the ever growing and evolving theme park. Today, I have been out again around Birkdale talking with residents of Clive Lodge and nearby streets, frustrated by a classic Sefton blunder.

Residents have said that, a year ago, Sefton cut down a beloved tree due to the pavement being damaged by its roots, a result of the tree having no tree pit, yet they left the stump, failing to address the very issue they aimed to solve.

A double failure: a lost tree, an unresolved problem.
I’m calling on Sefton Council to rectify this failure as soon as possible. #GreenSefton

# MOTORCYCLISTS — your opinions, please…

I'm currently in a bit of a battle/discussion with a nature reserve called Lunt Meadows, you may know of it.

I'm disabled and there is no wheelchair access to the reserve, even after a year of discussions and meetings with them on how to provide it.

This photo shows an access point which does not belong to Lunt meadows, but leads straight onto the reserve. This access point actually belongs to the Forestry Commission, but I'm told that the two wooden posts you see are to stop motorbikes.

**My argument is that only the most huge Harley Davidson style motorbikes would be stopped by these posts. Most normal motorbikes would easily get through if they wanted to. I have tried to get through in my wheelchair and even though it's pretty small and compact, it's too wide to get through, so I would argue that the only thing these wooden posts stop is a wheelchair.**

You can see the size of the dog and the man in the photo, do you think you could get between those posts on your Motorbike?

If you know the area, I would even be more grateful if somebody would go and film themselves riding between those posts and back out on a motorbike, just to prove the point and give me ammunition to battle them with.

It’s that time of year again! 🐸
We have put two Natterjack Toad walks on for 3rd April and 17th April.

Please beware that our site is currently very wet, so the alternative route we will be taking is quite steep and narrow.
Due to the sensitive nature of these habitats, we can’t allow dogs to join us.

Please contact the office on 01704 578 774 if you would like to book a space.

# **[Come Together at the Royal Court Liverpool review by Pete Rimmer](www.qlocal.co.uk/merseyside/news_list/Come_Together_at_the_Royal_Court_Liverpool_review_by_Pete_R...

To get us in the mood Gaynor and I got off the train at Moorfield and strolled down to Mathew Street now called “The Cavern Quarter" with music blasting out of many a bar was the sound of the Bealtes. It is no wonder that so many visitors to the city make their way to this music hub as it has such a good vibe and there is plenty to see.

There is still such a great interest in the music from Merseyside that it’s hardly surprising that following last year's amazing success of the musical Two Of Us at Liverpool’s Royal Court that Tom Connor and Mark Newnham reprise their roles of John and Paul and bring to the stage another great show.

Telling the story of the start of the Beatles as the Quarrymen and their Hamburg exploits the story moves quickly from song to song and features all those you would expect .It’s mostly high energy greatest hits performance everything from Love Me Do, A Day In The Life, Help, Sergeant Pepper, Strawberry Fields Forever, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and much more but also features some softer moments with good acoustic versions of the quieter songs.

A great quartet of musicians Adam Keast (bass); Greg Joy (drums); Ben Gladwin (keyboards) and Mike Woodvine(Guitar) along with Tom and Mark playing guitars and piano make this show a must see production for anyone who likes a good night out.

We get a nice surprise at the end of the production with a rendition of the very last Beatles song’ Now and Then followed by a crowd-pleasing sing-along Hey Jude to send their audience home full of music.

You need to be quick if you want to see this one it finishes on 6th April. It’s followed by a return of Alan Bleasdale’s Boy from the Blackstuff starting April 19th.
